UPDATE: Warwickshire’s nine recycling centres will remain open without an appointment requirement during the festive season, creating easier access for residents. The online booking system, temporarily suspended for a six-month trial, allows locals to recycle without the hassle of scheduling a visit.
As the holiday season approaches, the Warwickshire County Council urges residents to plan their visits strategically. All sites will be closed on December 25, December 26, and January 1, while Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve will see early closures at 12:30 PM. On weekdays, the centres will operate from 9:30 AM to 3:15 PM and from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM on weekends.
Council officials warn that peak times may occur, particularly on December 27 and 28, when visits tend to surge. They recommend avoiding the first hour of operations, as it is typically the busiest. “Plan your visit for a quieter day,” advises Darren Cheshire, the county council’s cabinet member for the environment, heritage, and culture.
Cheshire emphasizes the importance of recycling, stating, “Thanks to the efforts of residents across the county, recycling rates in Warwickshire have continued to rise in 2025. Small actions really do make a difference.” He encourages residents to recycle excess waste during the festive period without the need for appointments, making it easier to contribute to sustainability efforts.
