UPDATE: Budućnost Volej is gearing up for a critical weekend as they set their sights on securing a spot in the Final Four of the MEVZA League. Following a strong performance that includes two victories against Budva (3:1) and Maribor (3:0), the team faces pivotal matches in Maribor against top Croatian clubs, Mursa and Mladost, on December 6 and 7, 2023, both starting at 14:00 CET.
Currently sitting in second place with a record of 2-1, the Podgorica-based team is on the brink of clinching their place in the finals. Their only setback came from a hard-fought match against Hungary’s MAV Elore, where they lost 2-3 after leading 2-0. The urgency is palpable as the team aims to capitalize on their momentum from the first tournament in Budva.
Coach Dejan Radić expressed confidence, stating,
“We are eager to prove our quality once again and secure one of the top four positions that lead us to the Final Four. We have a team of incredible fighters, and I’m proud of what we have achieved so far, but the job is not done.”
The stakes are high as the team prepares for their matches in Maribor, followed by a decisive encounter against Austria’s Zadruga in Bleiburg on December 14, 2023, where they will face the only team currently holding three victories in the league.
Meanwhile, the other Montenegrin representative, Budva, will only play one match before the end of the year, facing Zadruga on December 13. Budva also holds a 2-1 record, with wins over Maribor and MAV Elore, positioning them for potential advancement in January’s tournament in Zagreb.
These upcoming matches are crucial not only for standings but also for the morale and motivation of both teams. The excitement surrounding the potential for a thrilling finish to the league is palpable, and fans are encouraged to support their teams in this high-stakes competition.
