Prijestonica Cetinje Approves €17.1 Million Budget for 2026

The Assembly of Prijestonica Cetinje has unanimously approved a budget of €17.1 million for the year 2026. This decision was announced during a session held today, reflecting a significant increase in funding compared to previous years. According to Savo Borozan, Secretary of the Secretariat for Finance and Economic Development, the budget is expected to facilitate the realization of a long-term loan aimed at enhancing the city’s water supply system.

A key component of this budget includes a planned withdrawal of €2 million intended for the design, execution, and oversight of work related to the water supply system improvements. Additionally, the budget allocates €700,000 in capital grants from the Western Balkans Investment Fund (WBIF), aimed at supporting the project without financial repayment obligations.

Support for Social Services and Infrastructure

In addition to maintaining regular services and meeting ongoing obligations, the budget outlines provisions for new initiatives in social and child protection. The Assembly highlighted existing measures, such as free kindergarten access and medically assisted reproduction, while also introducing subsidies for housing costs for young couples. Furthermore, it plans to subsidize part of the expenses for water supply to households in social need.

The budget also addresses transportation needs for senior citizens, continues the gerontology program in partnership with the Red Cross, and offers professional assistance to those struggling with substance use. Notably, funding has been allocated for the newly established service “Health House,” which aims to provide essential health support.

Investment in Housing and Maintenance

For maintaining residential properties, the budget includes an allocation of €170,000 dedicated to supporting the adaptation of facades and roofs, in compliance with the Law on Condominium Ownership and the Public Call. This initiative aims to enhance the living conditions within the community.

The Assembly emphasizes that the budget for 2026 establishes a stable framework for the functioning of Prijestonica Cetinje and the execution of planned activities in the forthcoming period. This comprehensive approach aims to improve both infrastructure and social services, reflecting the city’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
