Authorities in Montenegro have disrupted a potential criminal operation by seizing fake police uniforms, a crypto-protected phone, and three vehicles. This intervention was executed by the Police Directorate’s Sector for the Fight Against Crime in collaboration with the Regional Security Center “Center.” The operation targeted individuals suspected of participating in organized crime activities.
During intensified surveillance in Podgorica, police officers stopped a vehicle driven by D.L., a 35-year-old member of an organized crime group from northern Montenegro. Upon inspection, authorities discovered two fake police jackets emblazoned with “POLICIJA,” four emblems featuring the Montenegrin coat of arms, and various items intended for overcoming physical obstacles.
In a related effort, officers also apprehended B.V., a 29-year-old individual linked to a criminal group from Cetinje, while he was driving a vehicle with Berane registration plates. Both vehicles were confiscated for further legal examination.
In addition to these arrests, police gathered intelligence from D.C., a 30-year-old from Berane associated with another high-risk organized crime group. Searches of the residences occupied by D.L. and B.V. yielded electronic devices, including a phone with crypto protection and a vehicle suspected of having a manipulated chassis number. These items will undergo further investigation.
Authorities suspect that the arrested individuals had implemented counter-surveillance measures to conceal their movements and evade police detection, often using multiple rented vehicles throughout the day.
This operation is believed to have thwarted a planned criminal act. Investigators are now focusing on determining the specific target of the alleged attack, with updates to be provided to the public as the investigation progresses.
The individuals involved are already known to law enforcement, having records related to serious crimes against life and bodily integrity, violent offenses, illegal possession and carrying of weapons, as well as property and economic crimes, according to the Police Directorate of Montenegro.
The coordinated actions by law enforcement are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle organized crime structures within the region, contributing to enhanced public safety and security.
