Spalding High School concluded its term with a heartwarming initiative, the annual Bring a Tin Day, benefiting the nearby Agape Food Bank. This year’s event saw a remarkable contribution of 1,503 items from the school community, reflecting a strong spirit of support and generosity.
Students and staff worked together to sort, count, and box the donated items. The school’s site team then ensured these contributions reached Agape Food Bank, underscoring the collaborative effort to assist those in need during the festive season. The event, which first took place in 2014, has accumulated an impressive total of 18,527 items donated over the years.
Ongoing Support and Fundraising Efforts
In addition to the food donations, Spalding High School has also made a monetary contribution to the food bank. A total of £260.58 was raised through various fundraising activities held throughout December. This additional support aims to enhance the resources available to Agape Food Bank, which plays a crucial role in assisting local families facing food insecurity.
The success of Bring a Tin Day highlights the commitment of the Spalding High School community to giving back. It not only provides immediate assistance but also fosters a culture of empathy and social responsibility among students. As the school prepares for its next term, the impact of this initiative will undoubtedly resonate within the community, encouraging a continued focus on charitable efforts and support for those in need.
