Isle of Man Law Firm Commits £1,500 Annually to Air Ambulance Service

An Isle of Man law firm, Appleby, has announced a commitment to donate £1,500 annually to support the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). This contribution is aimed at bolstering critical emergency care provided to patients on the island. GNAAS operates services across the North East of England, Cumbria, North Yorkshire, and the Isle of Man, delivering essential medical assistance by air and road.

Since beginning operations in March 2022, GNAAS has collaborated with Manx Care as the official emergency air ambulance service for the Isle of Man. The specialized teams have responded to over 70 incidents locally, offering advanced pre-hospital care to individuals who are seriously ill or injured. Their capabilities include performing complex procedures at the scene, such as pre-hospital anaesthesia and blood transfusions, ensuring patients receive urgent treatment when needed most.

Supporting Critical Operations

Appleby’s donation will help cover the essential equipment, training, and operational costs involved in maintaining this vital service on the island. GNAAS estimates that it requires at least £124,000 annually to meet the additional costs of its operations in the Isle of Man. This financial support is crucial for sustaining the high level of emergency care that the community relies on.

The firm recently hosted members of the GNAAS team at its Isle of Man office to gain insights into the charity’s work and explore further avenues of support. Tom Brook, a partner at Appleby Isle of Man, emphasized the importance of the service for the local community, stating, “Living on an island, the value of the life-saving service provided by GNAAS to the Isle of Man community cannot be overstated. We are delighted to provide an ongoing contribution to help fund this essential emergency service.”

Community Impact

The response from GNAAS regarding the donation has been overwhelmingly positive. Mandy Karsa, the Isle of Man fundraiser for GNAAS, expressed gratitude for the firm’s support. “This contribution will enable our team to continue helping critically ill and injured patients within the community,” she remarked.

Further details about the Great North Air Ambulance Service and its operations can be found on its official website. The ongoing partnership between Appleby and GNAAS not only highlights corporate responsibility but also reinforces the community’s commitment to ensuring access to life-saving emergency care.
