Haslemere Mayor Reflects on Achievements and Plans for 2026

In a recent message to residents, Cllr Jean Arrick, the Mayor of Haslemere, highlighted the achievements of the past year and outlined plans for 2026. The end-of-year address reflects a year marked by significant progress for Haslemere Town Council, emphasizing community engagement and development.

Key Achievements of 2025

Throughout 2025, the Town Council has made notable strides, awarding over £70,500 in grants to local organizations that support residents. Additionally, more than £125,000 from the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) has been allocated to various community projects, showcasing a strong commitment to local development.

In a move to enhance local facilities, the council submitted seven land asset transfer requests to Waverley Borough Council. Among these, the acquisition of Beacon Hill Recreation Ground stands out, alongside plans for a new children’s playground at Town Meadow, which is set for installation in early 2026.

Community Engagement and Future Plans

Mayor Arrick expressed gratitude for the vibrant community spirit evident during numerous local events she attended throughout the year. Highlights included the Love Haslemere Hate Waste initiative, the Haslemere Sports Awards, and interactions with organizations such as The Hunter Centre and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association. These events reflect the dedication of residents who contribute their time and energy to support community initiatives.

The Town Council also successfully hosted various events, including the VE Day Celebration, the popular Bark in the Park Dog Show, and the beloved Christmas Carols at the Museum. These gatherings not only celebrate local heritage but also strengthen community bonds.

Looking forward, Cllr Arrick announced plans for a Mayor’s Gala Ball scheduled for February 2026, aimed at raising funds for her chosen charities: the RSCH Cancer & Innovation Centre and the 1st Hindhead Scout Group.
