Dogs Trust Kenilworth has kicked off 2026 on a positive note by successfully rehoming its first dog of the year. Archie, a three-year-old Staffie, found his forever home on January 2, 2026, after spending 44 days in the charity’s care. This early success highlights the organization’s ongoing commitment to helping dogs find loving families, yet many more canines are still awaiting their chance at a new life.
Among those dogs is Max, a four-year-old Border Collie who is searching for a patient and peaceful environment. Max can find the outside world a bit overwhelming, making a cozy rural home an ideal setting for him. He would thrive in a household with older teenagers and another confident dog to provide companionship and guidance.
To facilitate the adoption process, Dogs Trust Kenilworth encourages potential owners to visit the rehoming centre. This approach allows visitors to meet the dogs in person, engage with the team caring for them, and gain valuable insights into the adoption process. The centre is open to the public five days a week, with no appointment necessary for those interested in learning more about available dogs or seeking advice on adoption.
Finding the right match between dogs and families can take time, sometimes several months. Applications to adopt are valid for three months, during which the dedicated team at Dogs Trust Kenilworth works diligently to pair each dog with the perfect home.
Emma-Jane Thomas, Manager at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, expressed pride in the organization’s achievements, stating, “We’re incredibly proud to have rehomed over 850 dogs in 2025, but every day we continue to care for many wonderful dogs who are still waiting to find their forever homes. As we look ahead to the rest of 2026, we know there is still so much work to be done.”
Thomas further emphasized the importance of community engagement, inviting residents from across the West Midlands to visit the centre. “Whether you’re ready to adopt or simply want to learn more about responsible dog ownership and the support Dogs Trust offers, visiting the centre is a great place to start,” she added.
