Montenegro’s Prime Minister, Milojko Spajic, announced significant developments regarding a bilateral agreement with the United States during the World Economic Forum in Davos. He shared that he engaged in discussions with an American delegation, including Scott Bessent, the U.S. Secretary of Finance, emphasizing the progress made toward finalizing a government-to-government (G2G) agreement expected to be signed this year.
In a post on the social media platform X, Spajic expressed satisfaction from both sides regarding the advancements in negotiations. He highlighted the mutual recognition of the enormous potential this agreement holds for strengthening ties between Montenegro and the United States.
Promoting Investment and Collaboration
As part of his participation in the forum, Spajic aims to promote Montenegro as a stable and attractive destination for investment. His office previously stated that the Prime Minister would use this opportunity to discuss key global and regional issues with other leaders, further enhancing Montenegro’s profile on the international stage.
In another announcement on X, Spajic revealed his discussions with Kristof Katoar, President of Adecco, one of the largest global employment and workforce management companies. They talked about continuing their collaboration after Adecco successfully completed a pilot program in Montenegro. This initiative trained approximately 40 unemployed individuals in digital skills over three months, marking a significant step in enhancing the local workforce’s capabilities.
Spajic emphasized the importance of improving skills and knowledge within Montenegro, particularly as the country approaches the final stages of negotiations with the European Union. He stated, “Strengthening our domestic workforce is crucial as we move forward in this process.”
The developments in Davos reflect Montenegro’s strategic efforts to foster international partnerships and enhance its economic landscape. As discussions progress, the potential G2G agreement with the United States stands to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Montenegro’s economic relations.
