Ed Sheeran Unveils PRS Signature Hollowbody Baritone Guitar

Ed Sheeran has collaborated with PRS Guitars to introduce a groundbreaking signature model, the SE Cosmic Splash, a hollowbody baritone guitar. This limited edition release is capped at just 1,000 pieces, marking a significant moment in the guitar-making industry. The unveiling occurred at the NAMM 2026 event, where excitement surrounded the announcement of this innovative instrument.

This collaboration represents a first for PRS, as the SE Cosmic Splash is the company’s inaugural hollowbody baritone guitar, aside from a unique one-off model made for Sheeran for the soundtrack of *F1: The Movie*. The new guitar features an extended scale length of 27.7 inches, catering to musicians seeking a deeper tonal range.

Designed with striking aesthetics, the SE Cosmic Splash replicates one of Sheeran’s paintings from his Cosmic Carpark series, created in 2025. Proceeds from the artwork have contributed to the Ed Sheeran Foundation, which supports music education initiatives across the UK. The fretboard inlays include symbols for play, pause, rewind, fast-forward, and stop, which reference Sheeran’s latest Stereo series of albums, starting with *Play* released last year.

The technical specifications of the SE Cosmic Splash reinforce its appeal beyond visuals. It incorporates a collaborative PRS/LR Baggs Piezo system and 85/15 “S” pickups, allowing musicians to blend or isolate the two voicings. Players will find onboard controls for Magnetic Volume, Piezo Volume, and Tone, in addition to a three-way pickup switch. The instrument also features a PRS adjustable stoptail bridge with six saddles, enhancing its versatility.

This model’s construction includes a mahogany body paired with a maple top, a set maple neck with a “wide fat” profile, and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with a 10-inch radius. Sheeran expressed enthusiasm for the guitar, stating, “A PRS hollowbody baritone has never been done before. It’s super special. I’ve been using it all tour, and I love it.”

The SE Cosmic Splash is tuned to Standard B (B-E-A-D-F#-B) and comes with a gig bag, along with a signed 8×8 inch print of the Cosmic Splash artwork, all retailing at a price of $1,599. Sheeran also hinted at future projects, saying, “It’s a limited edition, so it will go fast, but there’s more to come, so stay tuned.”

The release of the SE Cosmic Splash, alongside John Mayer’s Grateful Dead PRS Silver Sky, positions PRS Guitars for a promising start in 2026, showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation and collaboration in the music industry.
