Apple TV’s Cape Fear Remake Set for June 2026 Release

Apple TV has officially confirmed the release date for its eagerly anticipated remake of Cape Fear. The 10-part series, which draws inspiration from the 1991 adaptation directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg, will premiere on June 5, 2026.

The first two episodes will become available simultaneously, with subsequent episodes releasing weekly, concluding on July 31, 2026. This announcement was made during Apple TV’s 2026 Press Day, alongside the unveiling of three first-look images featuring stars Amy Adams, Javier Bardem, and Patrick Wilson in their roles.

The plot centers around Anna (played by Adams) and Tom Bowden (played by Wilson), a married couple facing a dire threat. Their lives take a dark turn when Max Cady (portrayed by Bardem), a notorious killer they helped imprison, is released and seeks revenge. The series promises to deliver a thrilling narrative filled with tension and drama.

Creating and executive producing the series is Nick Antosca, who collaborates with Scorsese and Spielberg for this adaptation. The ensemble cast also includes notable actors such as CCH Pounder, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Jamie Hector, Malia Pyles, and Anna Baryshnikov.

This marks the third cinematic interpretation of John D. MacDonald’s novel, The Executioners, following the original 1962 film starring Gregory Peck and Scorsese’s 1991 version featuring Robert De Niro in the role now taken by Bardem. De Niro’s performance was Oscar-nominated, setting a high bar for Bardem, who will need to deliver an equally compelling portrayal to match the acclaim.

The upcoming series aims to attract both fans of the original films and new viewers seeking gripping storytelling. As anticipation builds, viewers can mark their calendars for June 5, 2026, when Cape Fear will make its debut on Apple TV. For those interested, Apple TV offers a seven-day free trial, allowing new users to explore the platform’s offerings.
