URGENT UPDATE: Montenegro’s national football team is gearing up for crucial upcoming matches as they prepare for the UEFA Nations League. In a draw held today in Brussels, Montenegro, led by coach Mirko Vučinić, was placed in Group C2 alongside Armenia, Cyprus, and the winner of the playoff between Latvia and Gibraltar, scheduled for March 26 and 31, 2024.
During the draw, Vučinić emphasized the importance of focusing on one game at a time. “When the time comes for the Nations League, we will think about it, but now we must go from match to match,” he stated, highlighting the immediate need for the team to concentrate on their forthcoming friendlies.
Before the Nations League kicks off in September 2024, Montenegro will play two friendly matches in March against Andorra and Slovenia. Vučinić stressed the significance of these games as preparation for the challenges ahead. “We need to use these four matches wisely. Since I became coach, we have talked about working hard and moving in the same direction to make progress and achieve significant results,” he added.
The Nations League will feature a total of six matches for each team, with each team playing one home and one away game against all three rivals in the group. The stakes are high, as the group winner will secure direct promotion to League B and a playoff spot for the EURO 2028.
