Silverburn Named UK’s Top Retail Destination for 2025

A shopping centre in Glasgow has been recognized as the top retail destination in the UK for 2025, surpassing well-known locations in London and Kent. The accolade comes from the prestigious SCEPTRE Awards, often referred to as the “Oscars of retail,” which celebrated Britain’s leading shopping venues. This year, Silverburn triumphed by winning the title of “Retail Destination of the Year.”

Opened in 2007 in the Pollok area, Silverburn spans over one million square feet and features more than 100 shops, cafés, and restaurants. Its recent success is attributed to a strategic transformation that has made it one of Scotland’s most vibrant retail and leisure hubs. The judging panel noted Silverburn’s record-breaking results over the past 18 months, which contributed to its enhanced reputation.

Silverburn now ranks as Glasgow’s fifth-largest out-of-town retail complex. The shopping centre boasts a diverse range of retailers, including well-known names such as Boots, H&M, New Look, Pandora, and Costa. New additions this year include Black Sheep Coffee, Hollister, H Beauty by Harrods, Jack & Jones, and Bershka. Notably, Silverburn also introduced Scotland’s first standalone Haribo store and welcomed Jo Malone London.

As food options expand, Wingstop is scheduled to open by December, joining established favourites like Nando’s, Wagamama, Krispy Kreme, Chopstix, and Zizzi. These developments reflect Silverburn’s commitment to catering to a wide array of tastes and preferences.

The award-winning shopping centre outperformed strong competitors, including Bluewater in Kent, which received a “highly commended” designation for its sustainability efforts. Other contenders, such as Trinity Walk in Wakefield and Stamford Quarter in Altrincham, were also in the running for the top title. The runner-up, Victoria in Leeds, was praised for its stunning Victorian architecture and received a high commendation during the awards ceremony.

David Pierotti, general manager of Silverburn, expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “This win, alongside record-breaking customer numbers, is a testament to the dedication of our incredible team and partners, who have worked tirelessly over the past 18 months to transform Silverburn into something truly special.” He emphasized that Silverburn aims to be more than just a shopping destination, focusing on creating a community hub that supports local employment and contributes to Glasgow’s growth.

Silverburn’s recent accolade follows another significant recognition earlier this year when it won the “Best Performing Large Business” award at the Glasgow Business Awards. This chain of successes underscores the centre’s notable impact on the local economy and its commitment to providing an exceptional shopping experience.
