Windy Hill Farm Marks 45 Years with Holiday Offerings, Urgent Update

URGENT UPDATE: Windy Hill Farm in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, is celebrating nearly 45 years of agricultural success and is gearing up for the holiday season with an array of fresh-cut trees and festive products. With the holiday shopping season fast approaching, locals are urged to visit the farm, open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to secure their seasonal decorations and fresh produce.

The Mareb family, led by owners Dennis and Judy Mareb, transformed a once-abandoned dairy farm into a thriving horticulture business that includes a popular pick-your-own blueberry and apple operation. “We’re proud to be a staple in the community and support local families,” Dennis stated during a recent visit.

In the 1980s, the couple took a leap of faith, investing their savings and securing support from the Lotta Crabtree Fund to launch their business amidst a challenging economic climate for agriculture. “It was tough back then; no one was interested in farming,” Dennis recalled. Their dedication paid off as they now manage six acres of apple orchards and two acres of blueberries, along with a full-service landscape department and retail garden center.

Windy Hill Farm is particularly known for its extensive selection of winterberry, with 15 varieties attracting customers each season. “There’s a huge fall market for winterberry,” Judy shared, noting that the farm’s unique offerings have become a local favorite for holiday decor. “We’ve started selling them a month earlier to meet demand.”

This year, the Marebs are excited to welcome visitors to their holiday shop, where they offer handmade wreaths, ornaments, and charming decorations. “Go early for the best selection,” Judy advised, emphasizing the variety of products available, including their distinctive winterberry sleeves perfect for Thanksgiving tables.

As Windy Hill Farm gears up for the festive season, Dennis and Judy reflect on their journey and commitment to sustainable farming practices. “We’ve been fortunate to make a living on this land and support so many families,” Dennis said, highlighting their ongoing efforts to nurture the community through agriculture.

For those planning to visit, Windy Hill Farm offers a picturesque setting with breathtaking views of Monument Mountain and a welcoming atmosphere that has drawn customers from as far as Long Island. With the holiday season just around the corner, ensure you don’t miss out on the chance to experience this beloved local gem.
