Thrill-Seekers to Zipline as Santa for Children’s Charity on Dec 15

UPDATE: Thrill-seekers will don Father Christmas outfits to conquer the country’s longest zipline on December 15, raising vital funds for children’s cancer charity BLAZE. The festive event, titled Santa Flights, takes place at Hangloose Adventure located within Bluewater Shopping Centre in Greenhithe.

This exciting initiative was created in memory of Benjamin Shaw, who tragically passed away from a rare brain tumor at just 11 years old in 2021. Founders and instructors Ellen and Owen Shaw established BLAZE to support families affected by childhood brain tumors, fund research, and enhance awareness of early symptoms.

Managing director of Hangloose Adventure, Brian Phelps, expressed the emotional significance of the event, stating, “Our Santa Flight at Bluewater has a really special meaning for the team. Supporting BLAZE and its mission to provide hope and memories during the holiday season is incredibly important to us.”

Tickets for the Santa Flights event are priced at £40, with a generous 50% of proceeds benefiting BLAZE. Participants will tackle the thrilling 720-meter zipline, soaring at speeds of up to 50 mph. Among the thrill-seekers are local kmfm presenters Ben Pearce and Jack Burke, who are set to join the festive fun.

Attendees will be provided with Santa suits and can choose to zipline solo or side-by-side with friends. The event also includes accessible slots for disabled guests or those in need of extra assistance, with caregivers permitted to join for free.

This event not only promises an adrenaline rush but also aims to foster community spirit during the holiday season. Those interested can purchase tickets via the Hangloose Bluewater website and take part in an extraordinary experience that brings joy and hope to families affected by childhood cancer.
