Traffic Updates for Montenegro: Road Conditions and Construction Alerts

Traffic in Montenegro is currently operating under dry conditions, with visibility generally good. The Auto Moto Savez Crne Gore (AMSCG) advises drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations, given the ongoing construction and maintenance work across various routes.

Regional Road Closures and Traffic Changes

On the regional road R-10, which connects Đurđevica Tara to Mojkovac, traffic is completely halted in the Sokolovina area due to rockfall. This closure is part of efforts to address a critical point along the route. Until November 30, 2023, traffic will shift from two-way to alternating flow at construction sites, with occasional total closures lasting no longer than 30 minutes due to reconstruction on the M-2 highway at Lepenac-Ribarevina, Ribarevina-Poda, and Poda-Berane.

Additionally, the reconstruction of the regional road R-29, stretching from Bar to Kamenicki Most and Krute, will see total traffic stoppages for all vehicle types from 08:00 to 11:00 and from 13:00 to 16:00. The ongoing work on the Petnjica-Bioča road will also lead to alternating traffic flow, with temporary halts not exceeding 60 minutes.

Traffic disruptions are not permitted on weekdays (Monday to Friday) during peak hours from 07:00 to 09:00 and from 12:00 to 14:00. Moreover, until November 22, 2023, traffic will alternate on the M-1 highway at the Kruće bridge, impacting the Bar-Ulcinj section.

Ongoing Construction and Safety Measures

On the M-3 highway, specifically between Plužine and Jasenovo Polje, traffic operates on one lane at construction sites, managed by traffic lights. Meanwhile, construction of a boulevard in Vojislavljevica street in Podgorica has resulted in traffic being diverted along alternative routes, as directed by posted signs.

From November 17 to 22, 2023, traffic will also alternate from 08:00 to 17:00 due to investment resurfacing along the M-2 asphalt roadway in the Podgorica section, with a focus on the Petrovac-Podgorica segment.

Further disruptions are anticipated on November 13 and 16, when traffic will be intermittently stopped from 21:00 to 07:00 along routes connecting Bar to Podgorica and Nikšić, due to the transport of components for the Gvozd wind farm.

As part of the ongoing reconstruction of access roads leading to the Đurđevica Tara bridge, alternating traffic will be implemented. Similarly, work on the Đurđevica Tara bridge on the M-6 highway, between Žabljak and Pljevlja, will also shift to an alternating traffic regime.

In addition to road construction, maintenance work on the “Princeza Ksenija” highway will result in temporary lane closures. Drivers are urged to remain vigilant and adhere to the traffic signals provided.

Traffic intensity across Montenegro is moderate to heavy. Over the past 24 hours, there have been 13 reported traffic accidents, resulting in three serious injuries and eight minor injuries. The AMSC provides technical assistance to road users, which includes roadside help, minor repairs, and free towing to the nearest service for all vehicles registered in Montenegro.
