New Roleplay Zone Enhances Family Experience at JunglaRoo

A new roleplay zone has officially opened at JunglaRoo, a popular indoor play centre located in Barnstaple, North Devon. This interactive space aims to enhance parent-child interaction and stimulate children’s imaginations. The addition is part of JunglaRoo’s ongoing efforts to maintain a fresh and engaging environment for families.

Director Graham Ruhleman highlighted that the decision to reintroduce the roleplay area stemmed from significant demand. An earlier version of this space was removed to accommodate other attractions, but parents consistently inquired about its return. Ruhleman stated, “All the time parents were asking when the roleplay area was going to come back. So at the end of last year, we started planning to rebuild a new roleplay area – but bigger and better than the last one.”

Interactive and Imaginative Play Experiences

The newly launched roleplay zone features various immersive scenarios. Children can engage in activities such as performing on stage, playing shopkeeper, or pretending to be a doctor, with the opportunity for parents to join in. Ruhleman emphasized that this approach makes the experience both interactive and flexible, allowing parents to spend quality time with their children.

“It complements the soft play nicely,” he added. “Parents can spend one-to-one time with their children in the roleplay area, then relax with a coffee while the kids burn off energy elsewhere.” This balance of interactive play and relaxation addresses concerns about screen time, which many families face today. Ruhleman noted, “Having something quite wholesome like this, where they can really get involved with their parents, siblings or friends, is fantastic.”

Future Developments and Seasonal Events

While there are currently no immediate plans for further additions, JunglaRoo’s team remains receptive to feedback and expects the roleplay zone to evolve based on visitor suggestions. Winter is typically a busy season for the centre, with indoor birthday parties and festive events seeing high demand. December will feature a Christmas party, including an opportunity to meet Santa.

Ruhleman encouraged families from across the region to explore the updated offerings. “If you haven’t been for a while – or ever – pop in, have a look, have a play. We’ve got sensory rooms, a café, under-fours area, and now our brand-new roleplay space.” During weekdays in term time, JunglaRoo offers unlimited playtime for visitors, making it ideal for playdates or simply allowing children to enjoy themselves.

JunglaRoo operates seven days a week, with varying hours for weekdays and weekends. Advance booking is recommended for discounted entry. More information can be found at the official website, junglaroo.com.
