Fatal Crash in Glenavy Claims Lives of Two Young Adults

A tragic road traffic accident in Glenavy, Co Antrim, on the evening of November 22, 2023, resulted in the deaths of two young adults, identified locally as Mikey Brown and Layla Douglas, both in their 20s. The collision involved a grey Skoda Fabia and a grey Cupra Formentor, occurring shortly after 18:25.

Emergency services, including officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), responded promptly to the scene on Lurgan Road. Unfortunately, both occupants of the Cupra were declared dead at the site of the incident. The driver of the Skoda was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for his injuries, according to reports.

Townland Boxing Club shared their sorrow, stating, “We are truly devastated to hear of the tragic death of young Mikey Brown. Mikey trained in our club many years ago. Such a lovely kid, even after all this time, he would stop and have a conversation with you and ask about the club.” The club extended their prayers and heartfelt condolences to Mikey’s family, highlighting the profound impact his loss has had on those who knew him.

Another member of the community expressed heartfelt condolences, saying, “God rest these poor young people Mikey Brown and Layla who have sadly passed away in a car crash.
