A West Lothian man, Graham Glasgow, recently had the opportunity to meet players from Rangers FC and the club’s new manager, Danny Rohl, at the Auchenhowie training ground. Glasgow, who is facing a terminal diagnosis, joined other fans with life-changing illnesses for a special event organized by the club’s Charity Foundation.
The initiative, known as the ‘Dream Fund,’ aims to uplift those in need by providing unique experiences. On this occasion, ten nominees, along with their guests, gathered at the training centre to interact with the Men’s First Team, coaching staff, and to enjoy an exclusive autograph session. Each participant was nominated by family or friends, highlighting the personal impact of the experience.
Following the meet-and-greet, the group enjoyed a special lunch at Ibrox Stadium, along with a guided tour. Colin Latta, who attended the event with his brother-in-law Graham, expressed profound gratitude for the kindness shown during their visit. He stated, “The experience meant more to us than words can fully convey,” adding that the warmth and compassion from everyone they met significantly impacted Graham’s spirits.
Latta further noted the importance of the encounter with players like Nico Raskin and Jack Butland. He shared, “Nico has long been Graham’s favourite player, so seeing him in person was already a dream come true.” The moment Raskin knelt beside Graham for a group photo is one the family will cherish forever.
Raskin reflected on the experience, saying, “When we meet fans like that who are unwell, it really puts things into perspective. We just try to give them a smile and a good moment.” This sentiment resonates deeply with the mission of Rangers’ Charity Foundation.
The Dream Fund provides special experiences throughout the season for both children and adults whose lives have been affected by illness, disability, bereavement, or other challenging circumstances. This includes opportunities for behind-the-scenes access at the training centre and matchday experiences.
According to Rachael Cosgrove, the Foundation Charity Executive who coordinates the Dream Day experiences, “We loved welcoming our Dream Day guests and making sure they could have this special experience during very difficult times.” She emphasized the bravery of the guests and the importance of offering moments that bring joy when they are most needed.
The Foundation’s efforts have received generous support from individuals attending events such as the 2025 Charity Ball, which helps fund these initiatives. The commitment to providing uplifting experiences for those facing hardships demonstrates the club’s dedication to its community.
As Glasgow and others left the training ground, they carried with them not just autographs, but cherished memories that will resonate for years to come.
