CCTV footage has revealed a distressing assault that took place inside the Tower Bar in Livingston on November 8, 2023. The video captures a man being violently attacked with a pool cue, an incident that has left staff and patrons visibly shaken.
The footage shows a group of men engaged in a game of pool when the atmosphere suddenly shifts. A man in a green top steps away from the table, and moments later, another man, dressed in red, swings a pool cue at his head. The impact causes the victim to collapse to the floor, while the attacker callously discards the cue before standing over the injured man, speaking words that remain inaudible in the recording. He then exits the bar, leaving witnesses in shock.
Graphic images circulating on social media depict the victim with a bandaged head and visible injuries, including a bruised face and a severe cut to his eyelid. At this stage, the current condition of the victim has not been disclosed.
In response to the incident, the management at Tower Bar has taken decisive action. The assailant has been banned from the premises, and the pub’s management is cooperating fully with local police investigations. Owner Frank McAlister expressed his dismay at the event, stating, “This was an unfortunate incident involving two people who we know well, and of whom neither have ever been in any trouble before.”
Mr. McAlister further explained that a disagreement escalated unexpectedly, leading to the severe injury of another customer. “A pool cue was swung and hit the side of another customer’s face, leading to very bad injury. This was upsetting for everyone who witnessed it,” he said. He emphasized that the Tower Bar is known as a community establishment and does not condone such behavior.
The pub is equipped with comprehensive CCTV coverage, which has been handed over to Police Scotland as part of the investigation. Although law enforcement officials have not provided a comment on the ongoing inquiry, the incident has raised significant concern within the community.
