Policewoman Denies Misconduct, Fears Label as Sexual Predator

UPDATE: A policewoman accused of inappropriate behavior at a boozy leaving party has expressed deep concern over being perceived as a “sexual predator.” PC Pamela Pritchard, who testified during a North Wales Police misconduct hearing in Colwyn Bay, firmly denies the allegations involving unwanted physical contact with colleagues.

During the incident at Caernarfon rugby club in March 2022, PC Pritchard allegedly squeezed the breasts of a fellow officer, PC A, and attempted to kiss an inspector. She claims to have “no recollection” of the night and described the events as a “blur.”

“I would never sexually assault anyone,” PC Pritchard stated tearfully, insisting, “I am not a lesbian.” However, PC A testified that Pritchard approached her from behind on the dancefloor and squeezed her breasts, a claim that has intensified scrutiny on Pritchard’s conduct.

The emotional impact of the allegations weighs heavily on Pritchard, who revealed, “I really, really struggled… I felt like people thought I was a sexual predator.” Following the incident, she reported having nightmares and isolating herself from others for months.

The prosecution, led by Jonathan Landau, questioned PC Pritchard’s claims, suggesting she was “victim-blaming” regarding her interactions with PC B, another colleague. He challenged her assertion that she had not engaged in inappropriate behavior due to intoxication, asking, “The simple truth is you did these things because you were drunk?” Pritchard firmly denied this allegation.

In her defense, Pritchard acknowledged having kissed PC B and expressed regret over her comments to a male colleague, where she stated she wanted to engage in sexual activity. “I know that’s completely out of order,” she admitted, further emphasizing her remorse.

Pritchard, who previously worked as a health care assistant and prison officer, expressed a desire to uphold the integrity of her role in law enforcement. “The police was the only thing I wanted to do,” she said, underscoring her commitment to helping others.

The misconduct hearing continues as Pritchard maintains her innocence. Her lawyer, Fiona Clancy, stated that Pritchard denies any intentional sexual contact and misconduct allegations.

As developments unfold, Pritchard’s future in the police force hangs in the balance, with the hearing shedding light on the serious implications of her actions and the broader conversation on appropriate conduct within law enforcement.
