West Northamptonshire Council Seeks Public Input on School Admissions

West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) is inviting residents to participate in a public consultation regarding school admissions for Council-managed schools and other mainstream institutions that have requested assistance with their admission processes. This initiative aims to gather community feedback on proposed changes to school admission arrangements, which will shape the policies for the upcoming academic year.

The consultation, launched by WNC’s School Admission Team, seeks to ensure that the voices of parents, guardians, and caretakers are heard in the decision-making process. Cllr Kathryn Shaw, the Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education at WNC, emphasized the importance of community involvement: “I really encourage parents, carers, and guardians with children in primary or secondary school to share their views in this consultation. We know how important it is to get school place allocations right, and the only way to achieve that is by ensuring the voices and experiences of those directly affected help shape any admission arrangements for the 2027 academic year.”

The consultation period is crucial as it allows WNC and other admission authorities to review and adjust their proposed arrangements before they take effect for new intakes in September 2027. Residents can access the list of schools involved in this year’s consultation and submit their feedback through the WNC website.

Responses to the consultation will be accepted until midnight on December 31, 2025. This feedback will directly influence the admission policies that govern school placements, reflecting the community’s needs and expectations.

Participating in this consultation is an opportunity for local families to engage in shaping the future of education in West Northamptonshire, ensuring that the allocation of school places meets the diverse needs of the community.
