King Charles and Queen Camilla have shared their official Christmas card for this year, featuring a portrait that commemorates their upcoming 20th wedding anniversary. The image, taken by royal photographer Chris Jackson, captures the couple standing together at Villa Wolkonsky, the British ambassador’s residence in Rome, earlier this year. The card is framed with a dark red border, and the message inside reads, “Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year.”
The couple marked their milestone anniversary on April 9, 2025, while on official royal duties in Italy, where they attended a grand banquet as guests of honour. In the photograph, Camilla is elegantly dressed in a white and beige coat dress by Anna Valentine, complemented by a lily of the valley brooch. The King is seen wearing a blue pinstripe suit, paired with a grey tie and a silk handkerchief.
Each year, the King and Queen send out hundreds of Christmas cards to a wide array of recipients, including family, friends, world leaders, diplomats, charities, and various organizations. As the holiday season approaches, King Charles is set to host the royal family at Sandringham in Norfolk on Christmas Day.
Notably absent from this year’s guest list are Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. The former prince has been excluded from royal family events and stripped of his titles due to his connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Christmas Day festivities traditionally include a walk to church in the morning followed by a festive turkey roast with all the trimmings. The royal family typically gathers to watch the King’s Christmas broadcast on television. Last year, King Charles used the address to pay tribute to the “selfless” doctors and nurses who provided him with “strength, care and comfort” during his cancer treatment.
Over the past year, the King and Queen have maintained a busy schedule, despite Charles continuing his treatment. Their engagements included a visit to Canada, a meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican, and hosting three incoming state visits at Windsor. These visits included meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron, U.S. President Donald Trump, and most recently, Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. This year marks a significant occurrence, as it is the first time in nearly 40 years that the UK has hosted three state visits within a single year.
As the holiday season unfolds, the royal couple’s Christmas card serves as a poignant reminder of their enduring partnership and the traditions that define their public life.
