Janovic’s Departure Will Not Impact DPS Ratings, Says Rakočević

The departure of Nikola Janović from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) will not affect the party’s ratings, according to party member Nikola Rakočević. Rakočević emphasized that unlike Drita Llolla, who recently exited politics and returned her mandate to the DPS, Janović’s decision to retain his mandate demonstrates a commitment to political pluralism in Montenegro.

In an appearance on Nova M, Rakočević clarified that while individuals may leave political parties, the process in Montenegro has been largely civil. He noted the contrast between Janović’s situation and past exits that involved significant public tension, citing the departures of Jakov Milatović and others from the PES party as examples of discord that previously marred the political landscape.

Rakočević praised both Janović and Llolla as capable individuals, asserting that their presence reflects the effective talent selection within the DPS. He stated, “This confirms the good personnel selection of the DPS. Such individuals are all part of our party, which is evident in our growing ratings.”

He expressed confidence that Janović will continue to uphold the values he stands for and that his departure will not negatively impact the DPS’s public standing. “We have had other cases of departures from the DPS where our ratings continued to grow,” Rakočević explained. “Those who left achieved respectable results, and this situation could only strengthen the sovereignty bloc.”

Additionally, Rakočević addressed the legitimacy of Janović’s decision to maintain his parliamentary mandate, pointing out that party leader Danijel Živković had offered the same opportunity to Llolla. This acknowledgment of Janović’s choice underscores the evolving political dynamics within the DPS and Montenegro’s broader political environment.

As Montenegro navigates its political landscape, Rakočević’s remarks suggest a strategic focus on maintaining unity and strength within the DPS, even amid changes in its ranks. The implications of these changes will continue to unfold as the party prepares for future challenges in the political arena.
