A woman from Bangor has made a remarkable discovery after purchasing a purse for just 50p at a local charity shop. Sharon Owen, 53, bought the striking red purse from the Koala North West Charity Shop in Claughton Village on February 3, 2024, as a gift for her daughter. To her surprise, she found a photograph of a “handsome” gentleman tucked away inside, prompting her to seek the picture’s original owner.
The purse, designed by Julian Macdonald, was intended to help her daughter organize school essentials. However, it was the photograph hidden in one of the purse’s compartments that captured Sharon’s attention and stirred her emotions. “As soon as I saw the photo, I thought it must have some form of sentimental value,” Sharon shared.
After losing her own father recently, the discovery resonated deeply with her. “He must be someone’s husband or father, and after losing my father myself, I would love to get the photo back to the owner,” she explained. The photograph has no identifying information on the back, making it challenging to trace its origins.
Sharon expressed her desire to reunite the photo with its rightful owner, stating, “It’s a lovely photo; he is a handsome chap, and I know if it were my dad, I would be so happy to have the photo back. You don’t have many photos like this of people these days. Seeing it pulled on my heartstrings a little bit.”
The photograph’s discovery was purely by chance. Sharon recalled, “My daughter needed a big purse for school. For 50p, I thought it was ideal; it’s perfect.” She added that the Koala North shop is a favored destination for her family, known for its quality offerings.
Sharon’s heartfelt quest to return the photograph has garnered attention on social media, with many users expressing their support and willingness to help. As she continues her search, Sharon hopes that someone will recognize the man in the photograph and assist in reuniting him with this cherished memory.
This touching story highlights the unexpected connections that can arise from everyday purchases and the importance of preserving memories.
