The Directorate for Protection and Rescue of Montenegro has issued a warning about anticipated severe weather conditions over the next week. According to the Montenegro Hydrometeorological and Seismological Institute (ZHMS), forecasts predict heavy rainfall accompanied by strong, and in some areas, stormy winds from the south and southeast.
Officials emphasize that these meteorological conditions may lead to adverse weather events in specific locations. The Directorate has advised citizens and institutions to adjust their activities accordingly and to stay indoors during periods of intense rainfall and wind gusts.
The recommendations include:
– Modifying daily activities to align with current weather conditions and avoiding outdoor exposure during peak rainfall and wind.
– Staying informed through official announcements and guidance from relevant authorities via media and official communication channels.
– Paying close attention to the state of watercourses, atmospheric drainage, and the stability of structures, particularly in areas prone to flooding and landslides, as well as high waves.
– Ensuring unobstructed access for firefighting and rescue services in case of emergencies.
In light of the forecast, the Directorate has communicated this warning to all entities within the protection and rescue system. They have also recommended enhancing operational readiness and increasing monitoring of the situation on the ground.
As Montenegro prepares for potentially challenging weather conditions, the emphasis remains on public safety and preparedness. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and adhere to the advice of local authorities to mitigate risks associated with the impending weather events.
