The Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, commonly known as Ofsted, has released a series of inspection reports for 2025, assessing primary and secondary schools as well as further education and training providers in Knowsley. These reports evaluate the quality of education, behaviour, and overall management, ensuring that institutions meet the expected educational standards.
Primary Schools Performance
Among the primary schools evaluated, Millbrook Community Primary School in Kirkby received praise for its approach to education. The latest report, published on January 13, 2025, rated the school as “Good” across all categories. Ofsted inspectors highlighted that “pupils enjoy attending this popular and rapidly growing school” and noted the effective fostering of curiosity and concentration from a young age.
Hope Primary School, a Joint Catholic and Church of England school located in Huyton, also achieved a “Good” rating in all areas during its inspection on January 30, 2025. Inspectors remarked on the pupils’ enthusiasm for learning and strong, trusting relationships between students and staff, describing the environment as warm and caring.
Another noteworthy institution, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Primary School, received a similar evaluation on February 6, 2025. Inspectors recognized the school’s welcoming atmosphere, stating, “This is a school where every child is welcomed and celebrated.”
On March 3, 2025, Northwood Community Primary School was also rated as “Good.” It was noted that “pupils speak very positively about their school” and feel well cared for. The report emphasized the strong relationships within the school community, supporting a nurturing environment.
St Aloysius Catholic Primary School, evaluated on March 19, 2025, received consistent praise for creating a supportive atmosphere, where pupils feel a sense of belonging. Inspectors noted the school’s effective code of conduct and aspirations for student success.
Other primary schools, including St Brigid’s Catholic Primary School and Knowsley Village School, were recognized for their outstanding early years provisions and good overall performance, with reports noting the joy and eagerness of pupils to engage in learning activities.
Secondary Schools and Further Education
In the realm of secondary education, Saint Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Academy, located in Whiston, is undergoing significant changes. During its latest monitoring visit on September 15, 2025, Ofsted reported areas requiring improvement due to recent instability in the leadership team. The school has appointed an acting headteacher and is working to fill several vacancies, which has led to frustrations among staff and students. Despite these challenges, the academy is optimistic about becoming fully staffed by September 2025.
In terms of further education, Learnmore Skills Ltd has faced its own hurdles. A report published on June 4, 2025, indicated that while the behaviour and personal development of apprentices were rated as good, the quality of education and leadership required improvement. Apprentices expressed frustration over disruptions to their learning, primarily linked to changes in workplace coaching.
Despite these challenges, many apprentices remain motivated to complete their training, demonstrating resilience amid difficulties.
The recent Ofsted reports reflect a commitment to educational quality in Knowsley. Schools and training providers are continually working to meet the needs of their students, fostering environments that support learning and personal development. As these institutions strive for excellence, the ongoing evaluations by Ofsted serve as a vital tool in maintaining educational standards in the community.
