They have until 4 PM on January 15, 2026, to apply for reception or junior school places for the upcoming school year. Specifically, this deadline applies to children born between September 1, 2021, and August 31, 2022, who are set to begin their education in reception classes, as well as children currently in Year 2 at an infant school who wish to transition to junior school.
As of now, approximately 2,000 parents and caregivers have yet to submit their applications for reception places, with around 200 still needing to apply for junior school placements. Warwickshire County Council emphasizes the importance of submitting applications on time, as those received after the deadline will only be considered once all timely applications have been processed. By that point, many schools may be at full capacity, significantly reducing the chances of securing a place at a preferred school.
WCC education spokesman Coun Wayne Briggs stated, “Starting school for the first time and moving to a junior school can feel like a big step, but we’re here to help you get started with your school application. The most important thing you can do is to get your application in by the January 15 deadline. If you are struggling with this, then let us know, as we can help. To streamline the application process, parents can submit their applications online at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/primaryplace. Notifications regarding school placements will be sent out on April 16, 2026, known as National Offer Day, ensuring that families are informed of their child’s school status in a timely manner.
