The Cambrian Harp School recently hosted a workshop that brought together renowned Welsh harpists, Robin Huw Bowen and Gareth Swindail Parry, alongside students of various ages on February 21, 2024. This event took place both in the school’s studio and virtually, allowing participants from different locations to engage in the art of harp playing.
During the workshop, attendees had the opportunity to learn “Afon Gwy – The Wye River,” guided by harpist Carwyn Tywyn. This collaboration not only showcased the talent of the featured artists but also emphasized the school’s commitment to providing enriching musical experiences for its students.
Looking ahead, the Cambrian Harp School will host the Cambrian Harp Festival on May 15 and 16, 2024. This festival will feature the gifted Irish harpist Luke Webb, who is set to perform alongside talented students from the school. The opening concert on May 15 will highlight exceptional performances by Harp School students and will include support from the Llanrhystud Chorale, ensuring a vibrant showcase of musical talent.
The festival will continue with workshops and a grand gala concert on May 16, providing an excellent platform for both budding and experienced musicians to refine their skills and engage with the harp community.
In addition to the festival, Cambrian Harps will perform on St David’s Day at the Falcondale Hotel in Lampeter, where they will offer a special Sunday lunch performance. This event promises to be a delightful celebration of Welsh culture and music.
