As the year 2025 draws to a close, festive celebrations are taking center stage across Montenegro, energizing towns and cities with holiday spirit. Various New Year’s programs, anticipating a brighter 2026, are set to unfold in eight municipalities, each showcasing a vibrant mix of music, entertainment, and community engagement.
Podgorica Sets the Stage for New Year Festivities
In the capital city of Podgorica, the traditional New Year’s market will operate from December 19 to January 8 at the Independence Square. The festivities will officially kick off on the evening of December 19 at 19:00, featuring the city choir “Stanko Dragojević” and performances from popular artists including the group Lombelico and singer Nataša Bekvalac.
The celebrations include a concert by the iconic band Osvajači on December 21, followed by renowned artists such as Jelena Tomašević on December 23 and Tijana Bogičević on December 25. The musical lineup continues with Alen Islamović on December 27, Al Dine on December 29, and S.A.R.S. on December 30. As the clock strikes midnight on January 1, 2026, the celebration will feature performances by Sara Jo and Marko Louis, followed by concerts from Nenad Knežević Knez on January 1 and Pilot on January 2.
Cetinje and Other Cities Join the Festive Spirit
Cetinje, Montenegro’s historical capital, will also celebrate with its event “New Year’s Tale in the Capital” at the Square of the Palace and Balsić Market. The opening ceremony on December 19 will include a performance by Ensemble Toć and a concert by the legendary band Prljavo kazalište. The festive atmosphere continues with music from artists like Nenad Knežević Knez on December 21 and Edis Agić on December 23.
Kotor, known for its picturesque scenery, began its celebrations on November 29 with the symbolic lighting of Christmas lights. The stage among the city walls will host numerous artists, including Boris Režak and Edo Maajka. The festive program includes performances by DJ Cole on December 20 and Fankulo band on December 23. The celebrations will culminate on January 1, 2026, with hits from Parnog valjka.
Tivat is preparing for an exciting New Year’s Eve with a concert featuring Lepa Brena on December 31, while Herceg Novi will host Haris Džinović and Neda Ukraden on the same night. Budva is ensuring a memorable experience with performances by Mirza Selimović and Boban Rajović on December 29, and a spectacular lineup featuring Teodora Šćepanović on December 31.
Bar will celebrate the turn of the year with a nostalgic “90s Party” featuring popular artists from that era on December 31, while Ulcinj will kick off its “Sweet December” event with live performances starting from December 23.
