Hartlepool Entrepreneur Drives Salvation Army Christmas Appeal

Aiden MacIver, a digital marketing professional from Hartlepool, is spearheading a charitable initiative to support the Salvation Army’s Christmas appeal. His efforts aim to provide gifts to children experiencing poverty across the North East of England, where the child poverty rate stands at a significant 31%.

MacIver is collaborating directly with the East Durham branch of the Salvation Army, which serves not only Hartlepool but also the surrounding communities. He has been actively involved in toy donations over the past few years but is expanding his efforts this holiday season.

“I have done quite a lot in regards to toy donations over the last couple of years,” stated MacIver. “This year, I wanted to open it up quite considerably. I understand people aren’t in the best financial situation, and it’s a big ask this close to Christmas. But there are lots of gifts on the appeal’s wishlist for £1 or £2 that could make a child’s Christmas a little bit better.”

Expanding the Reach of the Appeal

Last year, MacIver’s charity, the Aiden Charity, successfully donated over 100 presents to children in need. This year, he aims to surpass that number by promoting the appeal’s Amazon wishlist, which features items ranging from £2 to £20. Every gift purchased will go directly to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Present Appeal, ensuring that each donation has a meaningful impact.

The deadline for donations is set for December 5, 2023, although gifts can still be accepted after this date to accommodate late referrals. The initiative highlights the importance of community involvement during the holiday season, especially in areas where many families face financial challenges.

Additional Charitable Efforts

In addition to the Christmas appeal, MacIver is also raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. He has released a single titled “A New December,” with proceeds directed towards the charity. This dual effort underscores his commitment to making a difference not only during the festive season but throughout the year.

MacIver’s work serves as a reminder of the power of community support and the difference that even small contributions can make in the lives of those who are less fortunate. By encouraging others to participate in the Christmas appeal, he hopes to spread joy and comfort to children in need this holiday season.

For those interested in contributing, the Amazon wishlist is available online, providing an easy way for individuals to make a positive impact in their local community.
