KIC “Budo Tomović” in Montenegro is set to kick off March with a vibrant lineup of artistic programs, most of which feature premier performances. The month begins tonight at 20:00 with the debut of the play “Anđela,” directed by Milan Karadžić and based on a text by Stevan Koprivica. This opening performance highlights the center’s commitment to showcasing diverse artistic practices and the creativity of both local and international artists.
Following this premiere, the co-produced play “Jelena Savojska” will be performed on March 11. This collaboration involves KIC “Budo Tomović,” the Cultural Center “Nikola Đurković” from Kotor, and KORIFEJ Theatre from Kolašin. The production has garnered attention for its previous successful showings across the region.
The program continues with a guest performance from the ASM Theatre in Niš on March 17, featuring the play “Žene u crvenom.” On March 22, audiences in Podgorica can look forward to “Sedam sati sunčeve svetlosti,” presented by the Theatre on the Hill from Belgrade. This series of events underscores KIC’s role as a cultural hub in the region.
On March 16, attendees will experience “Pismo ljubavi,” a new monodrama by Slavko Kalezić. The month also includes “Tre sorele,” presented by the Tivat Cultural Center on March 30. These performances reflect KIC’s dedication to both innovative and traditional theatrical expressions.
Engaging discussions are also part of the schedule. The forum “Podgoričke priče” on March 24 will feature music professor and conductor Sasha Barjaktarović, promoting dialogue around the arts.
Film enthusiasts will be treated to a special series titled “In Anticipation of the Oscars.” On March 3, the Brazilian thriller “Tajni agent/The Secret Agent” (2025) will be shown, followed by the drama “Sentimentalna vrednost” by Joakim Trir on March 25.
For younger audiences, two exciting animated films will be featured in March. “Skokoumci/Hoppers” (2026), an animated story about unusual heroes discovering friendship and courage, will screen on March 7. The beloved duo returns in “Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass” (2025), set for March 22.
The KIC music program will commence on March 6 with a concert from the annual cycle “Women Composers from the Shadows,” dedicated this year to renowned French composer and pianist Louise Farrenc. The “Young Talents” series continues on March 18 with a concert titled “Past Forward,” featuring violist Iva Durković. Additionally, a string duo concert with Milutin Radulović and Jovan Mitrović is scheduled for March 23.
On March 20, the ballet performance “Dobro drvo” will be presented on the main stage of KIC, showcasing the talents of students from the Music and Ballet School “Vasa Pavić.”
The month of March will also highlight literary events, including an author evening with writer Vladimir Vujović on March 10. A program dedicated to fantastic literature in Montenegro will take place on March 26.
Lastly, art enthusiasts can enjoy an exhibition by painter Dragan Pečurica, which opens on March 7 in the KIC lobby. This diverse array of events exemplifies KIC “Budo Tomović’s” commitment to fostering the arts and enriching the cultural landscape of Montenegro.
