The second edition of the “Days of Mirko Kovač” celebration is set to take place from December 6 to December 9, 2023, across various cities in Montenegro, including Podgorica, Nikšić, and Cetinje. Organised by the publishing house Fokalizator, the event will feature over 20 participants from Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia, highlighting discussions around literature, theatre, and the legacy of the renowned author Mirko Kovač.
The festivities will commence on December 6 at 18:00 in Podgorica’s Book Caffe with the program titled “Prolegomena: Vježbanka Danilo Kiš.” This segment will introduce the new edition of the popular book by Božo Koprivica. During this session, Sanja Vojinović will engage in conversation with Koprivica, and actor Zoran Vujović will read excerpts from the book.
As the evening progresses, at 19:00, the program “Željeznička postaja Petrovici” will feature a video presentation from Radmila Vojvodić, filmed in Kovač’s hometown. Following this, at 19:30, a panel discussion entitled “Psihološko pauziranje: drame, scenariji” will take place, featuring Janko Ljumović, Aleksandar Radunović, and Ana Vukotić, moderated by Dragana Erjavšek. The first day will conclude with a program called “Rastreseni život, prijatelji o Mirku,” starting at 20:30, where Vlaho Bogišić, Božo Koprivica, and moderator Vanja Kovačević will reflect on Kovač’s life.
The second day kicks off on December 7 at 18:00 in the Book Caffe with “Melanholija suverenosti, o domovini pisca,” featuring Branimir Jukić, Ivana Kovač-Baret, Ana Radović-Kapor, and moderated by Jelena Nelević. This session will also include the introduction of Radović-Kapor’s book “Diplomacija za neovisnost.” At 19:00, attendees can expect the program “Oskvrnitelj mitova, pred naučnim sudom,” which encompasses discussions on the scientific reception of Kovač’s work. Presenters will include Tatjana Ćalasan, Sanja Vojinović, Melida Travančić, and moderator Andrija Radović, who will also unveil two new publications from Fokalizator: “U drugom licu” by Melida Travančić and the study “Kovač, tradicija” by Sanja Vojinović.
Later that evening, at 20:00, the program “Feral mikrokozma, razglednice iz Rovinja” will take place, featuring Vlaho Bogišić, Katarina Luketić, Sasa Ćirić, and moderated by Jelena Nelević. The final program of Podgorica’s segment, titled “Postmoderna: nisam to ja, to je pripovjedačko ja,” will begin at 21:00 and includes contributions from Svetislav Basara, Božo Koprivica, Dušan Šarotar, Vladimir Vojinović, and moderated by Dragana Erjavšek.
On December 8, the event shifts to Nikšić, where at the Kultivator club, the promotion of Koprivica’s book “Vježbanka Danilo Kiš” will take place at 18:00. Koprivica and the book’s editor, Sanja Vojinović, will also promote the work on December 9 at 18:00 in the Cultural Centre of the Capital.
The event is organized by Fokalizator, in collaboration with the Kultivator club and the Cultural Centre of Cetinje. The Ministry of Culture and Media is co-financing the event, underscoring its significance in promoting literature and cultural dialogue in the region.
