Pant WI Supports Horse Therapy with Charity Fundraising Efforts

The Pant Women’s Institute (WI) has made a significant contribution to the Montgomery group, donating £165.84 raised through a charity collection. This initiative supports the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), which has been offering horse therapy since the 1960s to individuals with disabilities and long-term conditions.

Horse therapy has proven to be beneficial for both children and adults, helping them develop essential life skills and improve their overall well-being. The unique bond formed between horse and rider not only fosters emotional support but also enhances physical abilities and boosts self-esteem. Participants learn basic riding techniques, which can lead to more advanced activities such as countryside challenges and dressage competitions.

At a recent presentation, President Janet Jones presented the cheque to the Montgomery group. The funds were raised during a competition themed “A horse in any medium,” which saw Caroline Buxton take first place, followed by Janet Jones in second and Margaret Williams in third. The event showcased the positive impact of the RDA, illustrated through photographs of participants proudly displaying their certificates and rosettes.

The benefits of horse therapy extend beyond the riders. Volunteers also gain valuable experience and emotional rewards from their involvement with the RDA. A short film watched by members highlighted these personal stories, showcasing how the program enriches lives on both sides.

Looking ahead, Pant WI will hold its next meeting on the first Thursday of the month, specifically on April 4, 2025, at 7:15 PM at the Pant Memorial Institute. The upcoming theme for the meeting will be “Eco‐friendly Swaps,” presented by Kelly Kraus. New members and interested individuals are welcome to join and learn more about the organization by contacting [email protected].

The ongoing efforts of Pant WI demonstrate a commitment to enhancing lives through community engagement and support for therapeutic initiatives.
