Billionaire Lunar Hotel Opens Reservations for $1 Million

Plans are underway for a luxurious hotel on the moon, with reservations now open for guests willing to invest $1 million. The venture, led by Galactic Resource Utilization Space (GRU), aims to provide a unique experience for wealthy space tourists, with the first model expected to debut as early as 2032.

The initial hotel will be constructed on Earth and transported to the lunar surface via a heavy lander. Described as an inflatable structure, it will accommodate up to four guests for multi-day stays. According to GRU, the hotel is designed to operate for a decade, offering breathtaking views of both the lunar landscape and Earth. Guests can look forward to activities such as moonwalks, driving, golfing, and other experiences during their stay.

Luxury Plans and Future Ambitions

GRU has also teased plans for an even more luxurious facility, featuring artist renderings of rooms designed with cushioned walls, allowing guests to experience zero gravity in comfort. The company plans to enhance the inflatable habitats with materials sourced from the lunar surface, increasing the capacity to ten guests at a time.

Founder Skyler Chan expressed ambitious goals for the project, stating, “We live during an inflection point where we can actually become interplanetary before we die.” He envisions a future where billions of humans could inhabit both the moon and Mars, experiencing life on these celestial bodies.

Construction for the lunar hotel is scheduled to begin in 2029, pending regulatory approvals. This initiative aligns with a broader push to establish permanent human presence on the moon, with countries like China and Russia also working on plans for long-term lunar bases. Both nations aim to complete a collaborative space station by 2036, which will serve as a significant milestone in lunar exploration.

As the race for lunar tourism heats up, GRU’s project represents a pioneering step towards making space travel accessible to an elite segment of the population, while also laying the groundwork for potential human settlements beyond Earth.
