British Airways Expands Operations at Tirana Airport for Summer 2026

British Airways has announced a significant expansion of its operations at Tirana International Airport (TIA) for the summer season of 2026. This development strengthens the connection between Albania and the United Kingdom, responding to the growing demand for travel to Tirana. Starting in April 2026, the airline will increase its flights to a total of 13 per week, representing a notable rise of 44 percent compared to the same period in 2025.

This expansion coincides with a major transformation of TIA’s infrastructure. Under the management of the Kastrati Group, the airport is undergoing enhancements that include new terminal capacity, additional aircraft parking spaces, and advanced digital technologies. These upgrades aim to improve speed and efficiency for passengers, ultimately providing a modern travel experience.

British Airways’ decision to increase flight frequencies is designed to offer passengers more travel options, not only to the UK but also to further connections with North America. This market is particularly sought after by Albanian and Western Balkan travelers. Piervittorio Farabbi, Chief Operating Officer of TIA, emphasized the importance of British Airways as a key partner for the Albanian market.

“The expansion of TIA’s operations illustrates the airline’s commitment to providing reliable connections, high service standards, and a broad network of destinations for travelers to and from Albania,” Farabbi stated. “We are pleased that TIA is recognized as an airport enhancing the country’s international connections and attracting elite global carriers.”

In a similar vein, Neil Chernoff, Head of Planning and Strategy at British Airways, highlighted Tirana’s appeal to travelers. “We are excited to respond to this demand by increasing the number of flights for the summer season of 2026. Whether for business, leisure, or reconnecting with loved ones, these additional services will make it easier for travelers to discover everything Albania has to offer,” Chernoff remarked.

Tirana International Airport remains dedicated to expanding partnerships with airlines, continually improving the passenger experience, and strengthening Albania’s position on the international aviation map. With strategic investments, modern technology, and a clear vision for development, TIA is positioning itself as one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing airports in the region.

British Airways, as the national airline of the United Kingdom, operates flights to more than 200 destinations in over 65 countries, including routes serviced by its partners. The airline proudly offers more flights from London to international destinations than any other carrier, providing passengers access to one of the most extensive flight networks globally.

With operations across three major London airports—Heathrow, Gatwick, and London City—British Airways continues to enhance its offerings and maintain its reputation in the competitive airline market. The expansion of its services at Tirana International Airport is a testament to the growing importance of Albania as a travel destination.
