OhmIQ, a North Charleston-based company, launched two new clean technology products, InstIQTM and SteamIQTM, at the Host 2025 conference held in Milan, Italy. These innovative systems aim to address the longstanding issue of limescale buildup in commercial coffee equipment, promising significant energy and cost savings for users.
The unveiling marked a major step for OhmIQ, a leader in ohmic conduction technology, as it made a notable international debut at one of the restaurant and hospitality industry’s most prestigious trade fairs. The launch drew considerable media attention, including coverage from TG5, Italy’s national television network, highlighting the importance of OhmIQ’s advancements in heating technology.
Key Features of InstIQTM and SteamIQTM
Throughout the five-day event, OhmIQ engaged in numerous interviews and strategic discussions, paving the way for potential collaborations and partnerships worldwide. A standout feature of the conference was OhmIQ’s partnership with UNIC Espresso, where the company showcased its technology integrated directly into UNIC’s espresso machine. This live demonstration captivated attendees, illustrating the commercial viability of OhmIQ’s heating solutions.
InstIQTM is a compact, tankless water-heating system specifically designed for coffee machines and hot beverage dispensers. It heats water in just 40 seconds, allowing coffee professionals to serve beverages made with fresh water while reducing annual operating costs by at least $1,145 per machine. On the other hand, SteamIQTM is a high-performance steam solution suitable for espresso machines, roasters, and other commercial food equipment. Notably, it features no moving parts, enhancing steam production speed compared to conventional systems while extending equipment lifespan and minimizing mechanical failures.
Both products utilize OhmIQ’s proprietary Ohmic Array Technology, which effectively eliminates limescale buildup and the need for traditional heating elements that are prone to mineral deposits and premature failures.
OhmIQ’s Vision for the Future
Frederique Pirenne, CEO of OhmIQ, expressed optimism about the future of ohmic heating technology. “Within a decade, ohmic heating will be a leading technology integrated into most new heating systems produced around the world,” he stated. The enthusiastic response at Host Milan underscored the potential impact of OhmIQ’s innovations in the industry.
This event marks OhmIQ’s first significant foray into the European market, signaling the company’s expanding global footprint. Following successful product launches earlier this year in the energy sector, OhmIQ is now venturing into the food and beverage industry, tackling the persistent challenge of limescale buildup.
Founded in 2022, OhmIQ has quickly established itself as a pioneer in ohmic heating solutions, boasting 136 global patents. The company is committed to developing scalable and sustainable heating technologies that prioritize speed, precision, and energy efficiency.
