UPDATE: The Gwen Mayor Trust has just announced funding for 18 educational projects in Scotland, celebrating the legacy of teacher Gwen Mayor, who tragically lost her life during the Dunblane shooting on March 13, 1996. This urgent initiative empowers nursery and primary schools across the country, enhancing opportunities in arts, sports, and community engagement.
Among the projects receiving support is the Baby Strings initiative at Thorntree Primary School in Glasgow, which will upgrade musical instruments to ensure its continuation. In North Lanarkshire, funding has facilitated the development of an outdoor environment at Christ the King Primary School and Nursery Class, creating vital green spaces for children.
Additionally, a sewing, knitting, and clothing creation program at Airlie Primary School in Kirriemuir has also been awarded funding. The Glee Club at Fernielea School in Aberdeen will flourish thanks to this support, alongside Kirkudbright Primary School, which has received funds for a crafts and STEM box of materials. Meanwhile, Preston Tower Primary in Prestonpans is set to enhance its outdoor program with new equipment and waterproof clothing.
