28-Year-Old Arrested After Assault on Traffic Attendant

URGENT UPDATE: A 28-year-old man has been arrested following a brutal assault on a traffic attendant in Newcastle, Co Down, that left the victim with serious facial injuries. The attack occurred on Saturday afternoon, October 14, 2023, when the victim, a man in his 30s, was assaulted after a brief altercation with the suspect.

According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), the incident unfolded in the Main Street area when the suspect bumped into the traffic attendant while exiting an off-licence. After a verbal confrontation, the suspect swung a bag of bottles at the attendant’s face, causing multiple facial fractures and a deep laceration.
