This year’s event features a series of races, drawing participants from various categories, including students, athletes, and military personnel. The first race starts at 12:10 PM with elementary school girls running 600 meters, followed by boys at 12:15 PM. Junior girls will race 1,000 meters starting at 12:20 PM, while junior boys will follow at 12:30 PM with a distance of 1,500 meters.
The main event, the Veliša Mugoša Memorial, will commence at 1:10 PM with senior competitors racing 5,000 meters. Participants will compete for cash prizes, medals, and diplomas, with special awards for top performers in veteran categories (40-50, 50-60, and over 60 years).
According to the Atletski savez Crne Gore, a runner can only participate in one category, ensuring fair competition. Registration and the distribution of race numbers will occur on-site from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on race day. All participants must wear assigned race numbers.
Additionally, prizes will be awarded for the top three elementary and middle schools based on student performance, fostering community spirit and encouraging athletic engagement among youth.
As anticipation builds, the Podgorica community is encouraged to come out and support the athletes in this historic event, which not only celebrates sporting excellence but also honors the memory of Veliša Mugoša.
