UPDATE: Buducnost Voli showcased an impressive performance tonight, decisively defeating the London Lions 94-63 at the MTEL Arena Moraca in Podgorica during the 10th round of Eurocup Group B. This victory marks the seventh win for Buducnost, placing them in a tie for third with Turk Telekom, trailing only behind Besiktas and Burgas, who each hold eight wins.
Head coach Andrej Zakelj praised his team’s response following their last game against Burgas. “I think we played a good game overall, especially in the second half,” Zakelj stated after the match. “The important part was our reaction after Burgas. Once we relaxed, we played our game—better defense and quicker offense—and it became easier.”
The atmosphere was electric as a large crowd cheered Buducnost on to a well-deserved victory. Zakelj emphasized the team’s need to recover and prepare for their upcoming match in just a few days. “We must rest and get ready,” he noted.
On the other side, Tautvidas Sabonis, head coach of the London Lions and son of basketball legend Arvydas Sabonis, expressed disappointment over his team’s performance. “We could not respond to Buducnost’s physical play in the second half. We simply did not show up on the court, and our game fell apart,” Sabonis said. “I am very sad for my team because they did not fight until the end, despite missing some players.”
This stunning win for Buducnost not only boosts their standings in Eurocup but also sets the stage for a critical upcoming matchup. Fans are eagerly awaiting how the team will build on this momentum as they continue their season.
