Met Office Issues Urgent Rain Warning for London: 50mm Expected

UPDATE: The Met Office has issued an urgent weather warning for London as heavy rain and strong winds are set to hit the city this weekend. Starting at 6 AM on Saturday, November 29, an 18-hour yellow warning will remain in effect until midnight, with forecasts predicting that some areas could receive up to 50mm of rain.

Weather experts indicate that rain clouds will gather over South West England tonight before sweeping across the country, reaching the North Sea by Monday morning. A widespread rainfall of 20-30mm is expected across England and Wales, with certain locations facing significant rainfall. These conditions may lead to disruptions in both bus and rail services, resulting in prolonged journey times.

Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Steven Keates stated, “Confidence is high that the weekend will be unsettled, but there remains some uncertainty over the exact track of the low-pressure system. Small shifts in its path could significantly affect where the heaviest rain and strongest winds occur.” This underscores the potential for varying impacts across different regions.

There is also a small chance of flooding in affected areas. As the storm develops, the Met Office will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary.

Looking ahead, weather conditions will remain unpredictable throughout next week, with temperatures fluctuating sharply. Friday, November 28 will be the mildest day, reaching highs of 13°C with sunny spells. However, Saturday is expected to cool slightly to 12°C alongside the anticipated heavy rain. By Sunday, temperatures will drop further to 8°C, but skies will clear, bringing back sunshine.

The extended forecast shows persistent rain likely through next week, though intermittent sunny spells can be expected.
