Mia McKenna-Bruce Reveals She Didn’t Know The Beatles Before Casting

UPDATE: In a surprising revelation, actress Mia Mckenna-Bruce admitted she could not name the members of The Beatles before landing her role in the upcoming biopic series. Mckenna-Bruce is set to portray Ringo Starr’s first wife, Maureen Starkey, in a highly anticipated cinematic event directed by Sir Sam Mendes, slated for release in April 2028.

In an exclusive interview with Tatler, featured in the magazine’s February edition available from January 8, Mckenna-Bruce expressed her excitement about finally discussing her involvement in this major project. “I’ve known for near-on-a year, but I couldn’t tell my family. I love them all but they have the biggest mouths in the world,” she shared.

Shockingly, Mckenna-Bruce revealed she was never a fan of the Fab Four growing up and struggled to identify all the members. Reflecting on her previous ignorance, she remarked, “We sang Eleanor Rigby and Yellow Submarine at school, but it wasn’t my jam. On Seven Dials, Martin Freeman was asking me to name all the Beatles – I didn’t know. Now, I’m like, Oh my God, The Beatles are underrated.”

The biopic series consists of four films that will collectively narrate the story of The Beatles, their relationships, and their immense cultural impact. Mckenna-Bruce will be joined by an impressive cast, including Paul Mescal as Sir Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as the late John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn as the late George Harrison. Additionally, Barry Keoghan has been cast as Ringo Starr, whose real name is Richard Starkey.

The excitement surrounding the project has already reached a fever pitch, especially following the confirmation of James Norton as the band’s manager, Brian Epstein, often referred to as the fifth Beatle. The casting of Leanne Best, niece of The Beatles’ first drummer Pete Best, as John Lennon’s aunt Mimi, adds another layer of significance to the production.

Emerging actor Bobby Schofield, known for his roles in This City Is Ours and Unforgivable, excitedly shared on Instagram about joining the cast as Neil Aspinall. He expressed his pride in being part of such a monumental project, stating, “The Beatles was my childhood! Endless plays of the White Album.”

In related news, Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, and Harris Dickinson were recently spotted enjoying the vibrant culture of Liverpool, fueling speculation about their involvement in the biopic. Mescal shared his enthusiasm for the city, saying, “I’ve been here a few times before, and we’re having the best time here.”

As anticipation builds for both the Beatles biopics and Mckenna-Bruce’s role in the Agatha Christie adaptation, The Seven Dials Mystery, set for release on January 15, fans are eager to see how this talented cast brings the legendary band’s story to life.
