This enchanting seasonal attraction marks its 25th anniversary, reinforcing its status as a cherished tradition in the heart of Germany.
Travelers passing through Munich can now skate while they wait, taking advantage of this unique airport feature that combines festive fun with convenience. The ice rink will be open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM, allowing visitors to glide across the ice for an affordable fee of just £4.40 (€5). This price is significantly lower than similar offerings in the UK, where time on the ice is often limited to just one hour.
In addition to the ice skating, visitors can engage in curling activities for approximately £22 (€25) per hour. Families will find a plethora of holiday-themed entertainment, including ice discos on Wednesdays at 6 PM, Christmas crafts, face painting, and magic shows. Notably, children can meet Santa Claus on 27 November, 6 December, and 19 December, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The winter wonderland also features a charming Christmas market with around 40 stalls adorned with twinkling lights, offering handmade gifts, culinary specialties, and warming drinks like mulled wine. Visitors can explore a delightful pine forest and cozy up in charming huts, immersing themselves in the festive spirit.
New this year is the “Wish Tree” initiative, where guests can select a child’s wish from the tree and purchase a gift to be donated to children in need. Gifts must be dropped off at the “Elk Hut” by 18 December, providing a heartwarming opportunity to spread holiday cheer.
Evening entertainment will feature live performances from local artists, covering a diverse range of music genres, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy. For those craving a unique experience, a magical 50-minute Christmas light tour around the airport will also be available after dark.
