Strictly Come Dancing’s La Voix Shines After BGT Controversy

UPDATE: The excitement is palpable as Strictly Come Dancing has returned to television screens, featuring 15 new contestants vying for the coveted glitterball trophy. Among them is La Voix, a prominent drag queen and singer known for her past as the runner-up on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. La Voix’s debut in the latest series is turning heads, especially as she aims to break new ground as the first drag queen to compete in the main series of Strictly.

La Voix, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, is no stranger to the spotlight. Years before her current stint, she made waves on Britain’s Got Talent in 2007 as part of the ensemble The Kit Kat Dolls. The nine-member drag group aimed to bring a unique flavor to the competition, likening themselves to a drag version of The Pussycat Dolls. Their performance of “Don’t Cha” earned them three yes votes from judges Piers Morgan, Amanda Holden, and Simon Cowell, propelling them to the next round.

However, just hours before their scheduled performance, controversy erupted when it was revealed that three members of the group were working as escorts, leading to their disqualification. The producers scrambled to rewrite scripts, ensuring the show could air without a hitch. This incident highlights the unpredictable nature of reality television, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.

Despite the setback, La Voix continued her journey, making a solo comeback in 2013 and later returning as La Voix and the London Gay Big Band, reaching the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent in 2014. Though she faced tough competition from Collabro, this experience launched her media career, paving the way for a performance at Pride in London in 2016 and a featured role in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.

In addition to her performances, La Voix has also taken on mentorship roles, including her recent work on the ITV special Queens For The Night, where she helped celebrities transform into drag queens. Her mentoring of George Shelley, who showcased a singing drag act, was a highlight of the show.

As excitement builds, viewers can catch La Voix and the rest of the Strictly Come Dancing cast on Saturday at 6:55 PM on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. With her unique background and talent, La Voix is poised to bring a fresh perspective to this beloved dance competition.

Stay tuned for updates as this season of Strictly unfolds, promising to deliver drama, elegance, and unexpected twists!
