UPDATE: The STV Children’s Appeal has successfully raised a staggering £2,444,119 so far in 2025, with urgent calls for continued support to combat child poverty across Scotland. This crucial fundraising effort culminated in a live broadcast event hosted by Lorraine Kelly earlier tonight from STV’s Pacific Quay headquarters in Glasgow.
The charity, launched in 2011, focuses on aiding children and families affected by poverty, and has accumulated over £39 million since its inception. The live show featured heartfelt testimonials from individuals who have benefited from the Appeal, including the Glasgow pop duo, SAINT PHNX, whose “Happy Place Workshop” provides a vital creative outlet for children nationwide.
Reflecting on this year’s significant achievements, Rufus Radcliffe, STV CEO and Appeal trustee, noted, “The work of projects supported by the STV Children’s Appeal has a truly transformative impact on thousands of children and families right across Scotland.” He emphasized the incredible generosity of the Scottish community, stating, “Reaching such an incredible final total for 2025 is a rewarding end to another fantastic year of fundraising.”
The Appeal has received steadfast support from the Scottish Government, which has pledged up to £1 million in annual match funding since the charity’s launch. First Minister John Swinney expressed his commitment to ending child poverty, declaring, “Every child in Scotland deserves a decent start in life, no matter where they are from.” He affirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring families in need receive the support they deserve.
The funds raised are exclusively utilized to assist children and families in Scotland, with all administrative costs covered by STV and contributions from The Wood Foundation. This year, The Wood Foundation donated £150,000, bringing their total contributions since partnering with the Appeal to nearly £2 million. Chairman Garreth Wood, MBE, remarked, “We aim to ensure everyone reaches a positive destination and their full potential.”
