Three Charged with Murder After Child Killer Found Dead in Prison

URGENT UPDATE: Three men have been charged with murder following the shocking death of child killer Kyle Bevan at HMP Wakefield. Authorities confirmed that Bevan, aged 33, was found dead in his cell on November 5, 2023, prompting immediate police investigations.

The men charged include Mark Fellows, 45, Lee Newell, 56, and David Taylor, 63, all of whom were inmates at the high-security facility. They have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court later today.

West Yorkshire Police (WYP) responded to the prison at 8:25 AM after Bevan’s death was reported. A police spokesperson stated, “Detectives have charged three men with murder after the death of a prisoner at HMP Wakefield on Wednesday.”

Bevan was serving a life sentence for the brutal murder of Lola James, his partner’s two-year-old daughter. He inflicted catastrophic head injuries during a horrifying six-hour attack in 2020, likened by medical professionals to the aftermath of a high-speed car crash. Lola suffered over 100 injuries, including scratches and bruises, before succumbing to her injuries.

The timeline of events reveals that Bevan, a known drug user, had moved in with Lola’s mother, Sinead James, shortly after meeting her on Facebook. He was convicted of murder in 2023 and was set to serve a minimum of 28 years in prison.

In an official statement, a Prison Service representative confirmed, “HMP Wakefield prisoner Kyle Bevan’s death was confirmed on November 5. We are unable to comment further while the police investigate.”

As investigations continue, the charges against Fellows, Newell, and Taylor bring a new layer of complexity to the case. The authorities are keen to uncover the circumstances surrounding Bevan’s death and whether it was related to his past crimes.
