Urgent Flood Alerts Issued as Heavy Rain Hits North Wales

UPDATE: Urgent flood alerts have been issued across North Wales as heavy rainfall is expected to cause significant flooding and disruption today. The Met Office has issued a weather warning, prompting reports of swollen rivers and saturated ground conditions throughout the region.

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has confirmed the onset of flood alerts, with over 40 warnings currently active across the country. Residents are advised to prepare for potential flooding, especially in low-lying areas, as the rain begins to affect the region.

Flood alerts are currently in effect in several key areas. In Anglesey, flooding is anticipated around all rivers on the island, impacting low-lying land and roads. Rainfall in this area is already underway and is expected to worsen.

The Upper Dee area, specifically from Llanuwchllyn to Llangollen, will see flooding of low-lying land and roads as rainfall impacts the region starting at 9 PM on November 30. River levels are expected to rise above normal.

Additionally, alerts are in place for areas surrounding the river Glaslyn and river Dwyryd, from Dyffryn Ardudwy to Nant Gwynant. Heavy rainfall is projected to arrive overnight and persist into Monday, with similar conditions expected across the river Conwy from Dolwyddelan to Conwy.

The river Dyfi, covering areas from Dinas Mawddwy and Llanbrynmair to the estuary including Machynlleth, is also under alert due to expected flooding of low-lying land and roads starting at 9 PM tonight. Rainfall is projected to continue into the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and to take immediate action if flooding is expected. A Flood Alert indicates that flooding is possible, while a Flood Warning means flooding is imminent.

As this situation develops, residents should stay updated with the latest information from NRW and the Met Office. Share this urgent news with others to ensure everyone remains informed and prepared.
