Urgent: Major Art Exhibition “Ad Iuventas” Opens Tomorrow in Montenegro

URGENT UPDATE: The Crnogorska akademija nauka i umjetnosti (CANU) is set to unveil the highly anticipated exhibition “Ad Iuventas” tomorrow, February 15, 2024, at 19:00 in Podgorica. This exhibition showcases the innovative works of 15 emerging Montenegrin artists and is expected to draw significant public interest.

The exhibition aims to highlight and support the creative potential of young artists, with a jury composed of prominent members of CANU’s art department selecting the best work to receive a €2,000 award. This financial support is part of CANU’s commitment to fostering artistic talent and encouraging dialogue around contemporary issues.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the works of talented artists including Jovana Vujović, Milica Živković, Stefan Delić, and Milena Vukoslavović, among others. Each artist presents unique perspectives through various mediums, tackling pressing social themes and personal narratives.

Academician Pavle Pejović, director of the CANU Gallery, emphasized the institution’s dedication to young talent during a preparatory visit. He stated,

“This exhibition opens wide the doors of the Academy for young artists, marking a significant part of our future activities.”

Pejović also highlighted the established Center for Young Scientists at CANU, which has been instrumental in nurturing top talents.

The conceptual framework of the exhibition, titled “4 / Meet”, reflects four distinct encounters among artists that explore contemporary experiences and identities. Curator Maša Vlaović noted that the exhibition fosters a dialogue on identity, gender roles, and societal reflections, pushing boundaries through artistic expression.

Vlaović remarked,

“The exhibition invites the audience to critically reflect on their role and responsibility within the community while recognizing new approaches and opportunities for change.”

The exhibition not only serves as a platform for young artists but also challenges audiences to consider their perspectives in a rapidly changing society.

This event is particularly vital for young artists, many of whom are current or former students of the Faculty of Fine Arts, as it provides an essential opportunity for showcasing their work and establishing their artistic identities.

The exhibition is scheduled to run until February 2026, and Pejović has expressed intentions to make such exhibitions a regular occurrence to maintain high-quality presentations. He concluded,

“It is essential that we continue to provide a platform for young artists to express themselves and evolve.”

As “Ad Iuventas” opens its doors tomorrow, the excitement around this event underscores a significant moment for contemporary art in Montenegro. Don’t miss the chance to witness the creative voices of the future!
