UPDATE: The municipal assembly of Žabljak has just approved a critical budget for 2026, totaling nearly €7 million. This decision comes after a brief delay and is expected to significantly impact the local economy and infrastructure development.
The session, held today, concluded in a constructive atmosphere, with officials discussing various important measures for the municipality’s future. Ivan Popović, President of the Žabljak Assembly, emphasized that this budget is both developmental and responsible, setting clear priorities in crucial areas such as infrastructure, tourism, and support for local businesses.
The approved budget includes plans for essential projects like the adaptation of urban roadways, reconstruction of community homes, and enhancements to the water supply and sewage systems. Additionally, there will be increased support for the Church Municipality of Žabljak, local enterprises, and institutions.
Popović also highlighted that special attention will be given to strengthening social, sports, and cultural programs, alongside a boost in student scholarships. According to him, major capital projects are currently in development, with a high expectation for implementation in the upcoming year.
Alongside the budget, the assembly also ratified the Work Program for the Žabljak Assembly for 2026. This program outlines key operational directions for the local parliament, aiming to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability within local governance.
